Amazing Mondays

I spent this weekend by the water-canoeing, paddle-boarding and swimming . It brought back wonderful childhood memories of spending all day at the pool only pausing to come back home for food. What’s better then that relaxed sun-soaked feeling?! There’s a reason so many of us like to vacation by the water, whether it’s  playing in the ocean, hiking by waterfalls or camping by a mountain stream – water relaxes us. Just spending a few minutes listening to water flowing lowers the stress hormones in our body. What a simple and delightful way to destress!

Unfortunately most of us do not have a workplace located near a rushing stream. Not to worry though! If it’s permitted you may purchase a small desk-top fountain and bring the water to you. Or, download the many available recordings of water sounds and put your headphones in for a few minutes of relaxation. Add a fountain to your home as well so you can enjoy a little relaxing pampering with your morning coffee. (A word of advice, choose a fountain that encourages the water to be noisy. I’ve purchased some that allow the water to flow so directly and silently that all I can hear is the motor. Motor sounds are not so relaxing!)

I hope you enjoy adding water sounds to your regular destressing activities. It’s the simple, consistent  relaxation inducing activities that will make the biggest impact on your peace of mind.
