I love to laugh. Some of my favorite memories are times spent with friends laughing so hard, doubled over, struggling to catch a breath. And then just when we thought we were in control someone would snort and the laughter would start all over. Such delight!

How long has it been since you had a good laugh? If you are like most adults probably too long! I’ve heard that on average children laugh 300 times per day, adults only 20 times in a day. What a huge difference. Particularly when as adults we are usually dealing with far more responsibility and stress and really need more laughter!

An article from the Mayo clinic list some of the top benefits of laughing . Just one good laugh increases endorphins, calms your bodies stress response, increases blood flow and heart rate and encourages muscle relaxation. Long-term effects include – a stronger immune system, positive mental health and improved mood. With all those amazing benefits, I think it’s time to laugh more don’t you?

Here are some steps to take this week to add more snickers, giggles, heehaws and cackles…

1. We tend to laugh more frequently when we are being social so add social time with your favorite friends to your regular schedule.

2. Watch funny movies.

3. Read a humorous book.

4. Watch or listen to your favorite comedian.

5. Everyday intend to find the humor in life.

6. Laugh with and at yourself. If you crack yourself up you will always be laughing!
